Us presento l'última costura resultat del Sewing Camp!

Here I am introducing the last garment sewn because of the Sewing Camp!

Unes setmanes abans del Sewing Camp em vaig dedicar a fer el xafarder pels blogs de les assistents, alguns encara no els coneixia. I vaig descobrir  el blog de Saiziland.  Hi podreu trobar roba infantil  i de dona molt bonica, però a mi, el que més em va impressionar va ser el vestit de fallera! Una autèntica obra d'art. 

Some weeks before the Sewing Camp I started to browse around the blogs of the sewists that would come, some of them I had not heard about. And I found Saiziland blog. In it you can find really gorgeous children's wear, but IMO the best is the dress for "fallera" (Valencia typical custom). 

Jo, un vestit de fallera dubto que me'l faci mai, no sabria com posar-m'hi i a més no visc a València, però em va encantar  la samarreta del Sewing Camp 2016, Hi havia el patró i les instruccions, semblava fàcil i original. A més tenia la roba perfecta, un punt de viscosa molt i molt fi, que semblava que estava esperant un patró d'aquesta mena. 

I don't think I will ever sew a fallera dress, it is beyond my skills, and I don't live in Valencia, but I did love the Sewing Camp 2016 t-shirt. She has the patterns and a sew along, it looked easy and original.  I also had the perfect fabric, a very thin and drapey rayon knit, which looked as if it had been waiting for such kind of pattern.

Vaig endur-me'n la samarreta tallada al Sewing Camp i allà la vaig cosir, amb l'assessorament de la mateixa Saizi!

L'overlock que vaig fer servir estava enfilada amb fil d'espuma blanc a les àncores, jo n'hi vaig posar de vermell a les agulles.  Com ja sabeu, el fil de les àncores no es veu per fora, per tant no passava res que fos blanc. 

Sí que hi vaig trobar diferència, amb el fil d'espuma, fa una costura súper elàstica. Segur que me'n compraré per quan faci el proper bikini. Això sí, la Saizi em va recomanar que no fos d'escuma de poliéster, sinó de poliamida. M'ho apunto!

I cut the t-shirt and took it with me to the Sewing Camp, where I could sew it, assisted by the very Saizi!
The overlocker I used was threaded with white foam thread in the loopers, I put red thread in the needles. As you know the loopers' thread is not seen from the other side, so it was  no problem it was white.
It was definitely easier to sew with foam thread, it makes the seam extra elastic. I will for sure buy foam thread for my next bikini. Saizi recommended to use polyamid foam thread instead of polyester foam thread. Good to know!

També vaig fer la meva primera vora amb recobridora, amb l'ajut de la Saizi.   La vora va quedar força bé.  Em va agradar remenar una recobridora per primer cop, però de moment no me'n compraré pas cap. ..

Per cert que si us feu aquesta samarreta, jo provaria de fer la vora de baix amb un puny, diria que ha de quedar molt bé!

It was also my first hem using a coverstitch machine, again with Saizi's help. The hem was fine and I liked to explore a new machine, but I will not be buying one any time soon, I believe...

By the way if you sew this shirt  I would try to hem it using a cuff, I believe it asks for it. 

Les mànigues i el coll les vaig rematar simplement amb zig-zag amb la màquina plana.

The sleeves and the neckline were hemmed by simply turning over and topstitching with a zig-zag.
Barbara, from Sewing on the Edge, has recently written a series of posts about knit hemming, I have been reading them and enjoying them a lot. Highly recommended!!
