COLL DRAPEJAT / COWL NECK

Ha passat un altre hivern sense haver-me cosit un abric...

No passa res, ho apunto per la tardor! 

Fa tanta calor que vaig posar-me a remenar els teixits d'estiu, i hi vaig trobar un vestit a mig cosir. L'havia començat fa dos o tres estius, em vaig encallar en un detall de l'escot, i allà es va quedar.

No tenia gens de ganes d'acabar-lo, i vaig mirar si la roba m'arribava per fer un top de coll drapejat. I em va arribar.

Vaig fer servir la part de darrera del vestit, que era més ampla que el davant, i un retall que n'havia sobrat

Another winter has passed and I have not yet sewn a coat...

Oh well, I will do it next fall!

It is so hot here that I started to browse through my summer fabrics, and I found an UFO, a knit dres which I had left halfway two or three years ago. 

I really didn't feel like finishing it, so I checked if there was enough fabric left to sew a cowl neck top. There was, using a remnant plus the back of the dress which was wider than the front. 

És el patró 110 de Burda maig 2012. Un patró hiperfàcil, només té dues peces, davant i darrera. L'havia cosit el maig de 2012, i sí que llavors em va costar una mica... alguna cosa he après en set anys!  El top ja no existia i m'havia agradat molt,  tocava fer-ne un de nou.

L'única modificació respecte el patró original ha estat escurçar-lo 5 cms., i encara el trobo llarg!

L'he cosit tot en màquina plana, fent servir repunts elàstics i jugant tant amb la tensió del fil com amb la pressió del premsarobes.  La meva màquina nova és una canya!

It is pattern number 110 Burda may 2012. A really easy pattern, as it only has two pieces, front and back. I had sewn it in may 2012,  then it took me much longer that now. Well, I must have learnt something in seven years. That top no longer exists so it was time to sew it again.

The only change has been to shorten it 5 cms., and I still find it a bit too long!

I have sewn it all in the sewing machine, no overlock threading! I have used elastic stitches and adjusted both the thread tension and the presser foot pressure. My new machine is great!

FÀCIL /EASY

Encara és gener a l'Europa Occidental, o sigui que encara us puc desitjar Bon Any Nou!

Avui us presento una sèrie de projectes tan fàcils que no havien merescut per si sols cap entrada del blog.

Comencem amb un top de lluentons, que va dur la meva filla en una de les festes nadalenques. La roba és elàstica, i el top només duu una costura al centre de l'esquena, feta amb overlock. Els tirants no són elàstics. Estan cosits al cos a mà.

Today  I will show you several easy projects, so easy they have not deserved a post on the blog on their own.

Let's start with this sequin top, which my daughter wore in some Christmas party. The fabric is stretchy, so the top has only one central back seam, sewn on the overlocker. The straps are not stretchy and are sewn by hand.

També per la meva filla gran, vaig cosir en un moment tres coixins amb una mena d'estampat animal. 

Tant si us agrada l'estampat com si no, us recomano aquest tutorial per fer fundes de coixins en deu minuts.

Also for my older daughter, I sewed in no time this pillow cases in animal print.

Whether you like the print or not, I recommend this tutorial for the pillows. 

A finals d'octubre vaig anar a un concert al Palau Sant Jordi de Barcelona.  Anava abillada amb dues peces que m'havia fet jo mateixa.  El pop top, i una faldilla twister de licra fina, segons aquest tutorial de Momita.

At the end of october I went to a concert in Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona. I wore two garments I had sewn myself, the pop top, and a lycra twister skirt, sewn as per this tutorial by Momita.

Tres infinity scarfs amb robes d'aquelles que rellisquen tant...  Me n'hauria de fer més, però amb roba llisa.

I per acabar, l'últim projecte que vaig cosir el 2018, força més elaborat que els anteriors.

Last but not least, the last project of 2018, it took me much longer  than the ones before.

Biquini amb el meu patró fet a mida, com aquest i aquest. 

El bikini verd ja no existeix i l'estampat està a les últimes, la licra s'ha descolorit molt, mentre que les gomes continuen igual.

The green bikini doesn't exist any more, and the printed one is rather worn out, as the lycra has faded a lot, while the elastics hold their shape.

Vaig estrenar el biquini el primer dia de 2019, en el Primer Bany de l'Any que es fa cada 1 de gener a les 12 del migdia a la platja de la Barceloneta.

I wore this red bikini for the first time on the first day of  2019, in the First Bath of The Year that takes place every 1st January on the beach of Barceloneta, in Barcelona.

M’ha passat més d’un cop que, enmig d’un projecte una mica llarg, em vénen unes ganes horroroses de fer-me una peça ràpida. Començada i acabada el mateix cap de setmana. A vegades aquests impulsos surten bé. A vegades no.
It has happened to me more than once to feel tired in the middle of a longer sewing project, and long for a quick make. Some garment to be started and finished on the same weekend. When I do this, it may work, or it may not.

Com aquesta vegada.
This time it didn't.

 L'escot, les mànigues i la vora van acabats amb remallat de 4 fils. 
The neckline, the sleeves and the hem are finished with 4-thread overlock stitch. 

Enteneu-me, no és que m’hagi quedat mal cosida, al contrari. Trobo que l’overlock s’ha portat molt bé i el remallat vist de l’escot sembla professional. Els altres remallats, també. I sobre el paper, m'agrada la combinació d'un estampat clàssic amb un patró contemporani.  Però un cop acabada, no m’agrada l’etxura de la brusa. És massa ampla, i la vora curta de davant i llarga de darrera és desproporcionada. De fet, la vaig escurçar 10 cms respecte el patró, em va quedar bé de darrera i massa curta de davant.  L’hauria d’haver escurçat 10 cms. de darrera i 5 de davant. Ai, aquests esveraments!

It is not that the garment is not well sewn, the finishings turned out well, even in the neckline my overlocked behaved. And, theoretically, a fabric with a classic print and a contemporary pattern should match well. But once finished, I don't like the top's shape. It is too wide, almost shapeless, and the high low hem is too dramatic. I did shorten it by 10 cms and then it turned out too short at the front. I should have shortened it 10 cms at the back and 5 at the front. Sewing too fast is never recommended!

A més, el teixit es poliéster i no té bon caient.
To make it worse, the fabric is polyester that doesn't drape well.

The pattern is number four from the magazine Colecciones 3.

Aquesta revista, junt amb una altra que es diu Modelos, són les versions en castellà de la revista italiana La Mia Boutique. La Mia Boutique és chic en estat pur. Els models són refinats, plens de detalls. Jo en tinc cinc ó sis revistes, dues són l’original en italià, una és la versió francesa “Couture”, i les altres les versions espanyoles.  M’encanten tots els models, però no me n’havia cosit cap. Fins ara. I just he triat un model que no se’m posa bé. ..
This magazine, together with another one named Modelos, are the Spanish versions of the Italian pattern magazine La Mia Boutique. I love La Mia Boutique, it is so chic! Patterns are refined and full of details. I have five or six magazines, two are the Italian original version, one is the French version "Couture" and the others are the Spanish ones. Although I love the garments, I hadn't so far sewn any of them. And when I did, I chose the wrong one. ..

Fins i tot he llençat el patró calcat, no fos cas que se m’acudís aprofitar-lo. Si vull una brusa de màniga caiguda en tela plana, és molt millor el patró del POP TOP.

I even threw away the traced patterns, so that I never want to sew it again. If I want a top in a woven with dropped shoulder, the POP TOP pattern fits me much better.

En fi, que he tornat al projecte ambiciós, a veure quan us el puc ensenyar…
So I went back to my longer projecte, soon to be finished...

POP TOP

Bon Any Nou a tothom!  
Hi ha projectes que comencen amb el patró, d'altres amb la roba. La història d'aquest top comença amb  aquest retall. 
Us agrada?  Com en diríeu d'aquesta mena d'estampat?  Pop, mod, psicodèlic?
No tinc clar a quina de les tres corrents estètiques pertany, però al final l'he batejat com la roba POP.

Some projects start with the pattern, others with the fabric. The story of this top starts with this remnant.
Do you like this fabric?  What would you call this kind of print? Pop, mod, psychodelic?
I definitely don't know which of the three aesthetic categories it falls into, but in the end I've decided to call this the POP fabric.

Ja us vaig explicar que el cap de setmana del Sewing Camp vam fer intercanvi de teixits. Aquesta roba de cotó una mica rígid em va fer gràcia des del primer moment i li vaig demanar a l'Helena de maquinando patrones si podíem intercanviar-la. I va dir que sí. Moltes gràcies, Helena!

As I told you, during the Sewing Camp we had an exchange of fabrics.

I did like this stiff cotton poplin from the beginning , so I asked Helena from maquinando patrones if we could make a swap with it. And she said yes.

De seguida vaig visualitzar-hi un top, que havia de ser màniga llarga, tot i que tenia poca roba, només 1,10 m.  Sort que vaig trobar el patró ideal, el núm. 112 de Burda d'agost de 2017.

I wanted to sew a long sleeved top with it, although I only had 1,10 m. of fabric. Good luck I found the perfect match, pattern number 112 from Burda august 2017

No té cremallera ni botons, ni tan sols pinces de pit. Les mànigues són caigudes i per això no es gasta tanta roba. Súper fàcil de cosir.   

Per calcar el patró vaig fer servir per primera vegada plàstic en lloc de paper, vaig calcar-lo en un moment. Però el plàstic que vaig comprar és una mica prim, i es movia quan hi afegia els marges de costura. La propera vegada ho provaré amb plàstic de més bona qualitat.

It has neither zipper nor bust darts. Having dropped shoulders and a sleeve with short cap height, it uses little fabric. A very easy garment to sew.

To trace the pattern I used for the first time clear plastic instead of paper, it was so fast to trace! Anyway, the plastic I used was not thick enough, making it troublesome to add the seam allowances. Next time I will buy better quality clear plastic.

El top ha quedat una mica curt, potser hauria d'haver escurçat  les mànigues i allargat el cos...    Tant li fa,  serà un top perfecte per sortir a prendre quelcom, o per anar a ballar a un concert de rock (ja en tinc un en perspectiva per aquest anya!)

The top turned out a bit too short, maybe I should have shortened the sleevesand lengthened the bodice instead...  No problem, it will be a perfect garment for informal outings , and I will for sure wear it at a rock concert for which I have already bought tickets.
