Com voleien aquests pantalons!!
These pants do blow in the wind!!

A finals d'estiu de l'any passat vaig veure que l'Helena  de @maquinandopatrones s'havia fet uns pantalons així. Aquí teniu la seva entrada.

I vaig decidir que quan vingués la primavera me'n faria uns. Ja se sap que molts cops ens posem llistes de desitjos o obligacions costureres i no les complim, però aquest cop sí.

At the end of last summer I read this blog post by Helena @maquinandopatrones and decided I wanted to sew such  wrap pants. 

There are plenty of tutorials on you tube about how to sew them...

Com en diríeu en català, "pantaló embolcallant", potser? A internet hi podeu trobar molts tutorials de pantalons com aquests , com  a "pantalón envolvente" o "wrap pant".

He utilitzat una roba amb molt caient, és una mescla de poliéster, em va arribar justa, perquè aquest tipus de pantalons són molt fàcils de cosir però gasten molta roba. 

El petit estampat geomètric, tipus corbata, va ajudar molt a tallar-los rectes, perquè la roba rellisca com una mala cosa, Per fer les vores, les vaig haver d'embastar, amb agulles de cap no n'hi havia prou.

I have used a polyblend with a good drape, I didn't have much to choose from, this does use a lot of fabric. This small print helped me cut straight lines, because this is a very slippery fabric. To hem it I had to baste it first. But it was worth it, as the print matches where it should...

Però si ho mires d'aprop, es nota. Mireu com casen els estampats...

Ja fa tres setmanes que els vaig acabar i encara no els he estrenat... tot arribarà!

PANTALONS AFRICANS / AFRICAN PANTS

Si teniu filles adolescents potser estareu d'acord amb mi que és molt difícil cosir-les-hi roba.  Volen dessuadores i texans a l'hivern, samarretes i xorts a l'estiu. I sobretot, són impacients. Per això, si per casualitat demanen que els facis una peça de roba, i trobes el teixit adequat, val més posar-t'hi abans no canviïn de pensament.

La meva filla petita volia uns pantalons amb goma, i en un viatge al Marroc vam trobar la roba que li agradava. Una mena de viscosa estampada.Tal dit tal fet.

If you have teenage daughters, you may agree with me that it is very difficult to sew for them. They want sweatshirts and jeans in winter, tees and shorts in summer. And, above all, they are very impatient. Therefore, if they ask you to sew something for them and you happen to find the right fabric, you'd better start sewing before they change their mind.

My younger daughter wanted a pair of elastic waist pants, and during a trip to Morocco we found the right fabric . Some kind of printed rayon.  So I went ahead.

El patró és el mateix que els meus xorts d'una peça, el 50 de la revista Moda de Pasarela núm. 15, format pantaló llarg. No hi havia la seva talla, vaig haver d'escalar el patró i reduïr-lo dues talles. 

Com que no hi ha costures laterals, porten butxaques de pedaç, copiades d'uns pantalons comprats. He casat l'estampat, per això no veieu les butxaques.

The pattern is the same as in my one pattern piece shorts,  50 from the magazine Moda de Pasarela number 15, lenghthened to long pants. The pattern had to be scaled down two sizes.
As there are no side seams, they have patch pockets, traced from a pair of RTW pants. The print is matched, that's why you can hardly see the pockets.

Goma ampla a la cintura, goma estreta al turmell. Són súper còmodes!

Wide elastic at the waist and narrow elastic at the ankle. They are so comfortable!

I vosaltres, ja us heu posat amb les costures d'estiu o la calor us en treu les ganes?

BORDER PRINT

Bona nit,

Sempre va bé tenir uns pantalons amb goma. Jo en tinc dos de comprats i els he fet servir un munt. Per seure llargues hores en cotxes, trens, avions, hospitals.. 

Un d'aquests dos pantalons va passar a millor vida a finals d'estiu, i vaig pensar que aquesta roba amb sanefa de través (és així com es diu Border Print en català?) m'aniria perfecte per fer-me'n uns altres.

Pull-on pants with elastic waist are always good to have. Three years ago  I  bought two and I have used them a lot. To sit long hours in cars, trains, airplanes, chairs in hospitals ...

One of these two pants ended its life at the end of summer, and I thought that this border print would be perfect to turn into one.

El patró és el núm. 4 del Burda Easy 2 de 2016. Com que és Burda Easy, no cal calcar-lo.  Llàstima que les peces de patró no les imprimeixen prou separades com per afegir-hi els marges de costura.  (suposo que si fes una talla 36, sí que els hi podria afegir)

The pattern is number 4 Burda Easy 2/2016. Being Burda Easy, there is no need to trace it.  It is although a shame that the pattern pieces aren't printed far apart enough to be able to draft the seam allowances around them  (I guess if my size was a 36, there would be room for that...

El teixit és una mena de fibra, amb acabat mate, que no s'arruga gens. Però es desfilava una passada ,i  el marge de costura anava minvant.  Sort que havia marcat els patrons a la roba amb punts fluixos! (no es podien marcar de cap altra manera).  

The fabric is some manmade fiber, with a mate finish, it does not wrinkle at all.But it frayed terribly, and the seam allowances diminished.. Fortunately, I had transferred the pattern to the fabric with tailor's tacks (there was no other way)

Casar l'estampat als laterals dels camals va ser prou fàcil .

Matching the print at the side seams was really easy.

Em sembla que em cal tornar a planxar la costura!
I guess the seam must be ironed again!

La trinxa porta goma només a partir de les butxaques cap enrera, així no fa arrugues sobre la panxa.  

Aquí hi trobareu un tutorial de com fer una trinxa que només porti goma al darrera.

El fet de posar goma només a darrera fa que entre la cadera i la cintura, la costura lateral es desplaci cap enrera. No ho vaig corregir. Suposo que per això, les butxaques surten enfora.

The waistband has a flat front, the elastic starts at the pockets' line. That way, it doesn't add bulk on the belly.

The fact that there is only elastic in the back causes the side seams to move backwards between the hips and the waist. I could have corrected the pattern, but I did not. I guess that is why the pockets stand out like this.

De la roba que em va quedar en vaig fer un mocador amb la vora enrotllada de l'overlock.

With the remnants I sewed a scarf using the rolled hem of the overlock.

Ja tinc pantalons per anar de viatge.

A vosaltres us agraden els pantalons amb goma? En porteu sovint?

Texans d'estiu / Summer jeans

Bona nit a tothom,quina calda!!
A ple estiu no em poso mai texans. Trobo que fan mooolta fan calor. A ple hivern tampoc me'n poso,  els trobo freds. Però visc a la Catalunya central i aquí fa més calor a l'estiu que fred a l'hivern. 

De fet a l'estiu el que més m'agrada dur són vestits, i alguna faldilla.   El que passa és que a vegades va bé tenir pantalons d'estiu llargs.

Per això m'he fet aquests pantalons de fil. Són de color blau marí, o sigui que deuen combinar amb tot, com els texans.

I dont' wear jeans in summer. I live in central Catalonia, an hour's drive from Barcelona, and it's hot here in summer. HOT. 

In summer I prefer dresses, and also skirts. But sometimes you need a pair of long pants. 

So I have sewn a pair of linen pants. They are navy blue, so I guess they pretty much match with everything

Són el model 102 del Burda de maig de 2017.  Ja us n'havia parlat aquí.  Són amples de baix, però de dalt van ajustadets.

M'agrada molt com se'm posen de darrera. Segur que és perquè la trinxa fa corba. I jo a més, hi afegeixo una costura posterior central.

They are Burda 102 from May 2017 issue. I had already told you  about them here. They are wide legged but tight from waist to hip. 
I do like the way they fit in the back. I guess it is because the waistband is curved and not straight. And I also sew a seam in the center back of the waistband. 

Les butxaques de pedaç són decoratives, tampoc no les faria servir.  He llegit a molts llocs que les butxaques posteriors fa que no se't vegi tan grossa de darrera. 
Les vaig haver de pujar 2 cms, descosir-les i tornar-les a muntar més amunt quan ja estaven acabades. Em va fer mandra però va valer la pena, de fet potser les hauria d'haver pujat 1 cm més, què us sembla?

The patch pockets aren't functional. I have read in many places that pockets in your back make it look smaller. 

I had to raise them pockets 2 cms, when they were already sewn. It was not fun but worth it. I even think I should have raised them 1 cm. higher, what do you think?

Les butxaques de davant, em van quedar bé, i les vaig rematar amb cinta al biaix i tot. Però no sé si perquè em vaig oblidar de posar entretela a la vora, o per la forma que tenen, s'obrien molt. O sigui que després de dur els pantalons amb les butxaques funcionals durant un dia i consultar-ho amb una companya de feina, vaig passar-los un repunt vist i ara també només són decoratives.

The front hip pockets turned out well, I even finished them with bias tape. But, maybe because I forgot to interface their edges ,or because of their shape, they gaped a lot. After wearing the pants to work one day and consulting with a colleague, I made up my mind and stitched closed the pockets, now they aren't functional any more. 

El dia que tingui temps (i ganes), faré aquests sacs de butxaca més petits.  
Someday, when I feel like it, I might cut this pocket bags smaller...



Estic contenta dels pantalons, però trobo que se'm posen més bé de darrera que de davant. Em sembla que a davant la línia del "tiro" és massa llarga.   A veure si repeteixo el patró, i faig proves escurçant-lo.

All in all I am happy with this pants, but I feel they fit me better in the back than in the front. I guess the crotch line is too long in the front. I will have to sew another pair using the same pattern and make some muslin with a shorter crotch...

De totes maneres ara ja tinc uns texans d'estiu!!

Ser verd / Being green

Hola a tothom,

La granota Gustavo, de la sèrie infantil Barrio Sésamo, cantava una cançó que m'agradava moltíssim. Per absurda i surrealista.

Hello everyone,
Kermit, the frog from Sesame Street TV programme, sang a song which I loved, it was so absurd and surrealistic!

Suposo que no deu ser fàcil ser verd,  el que sí que sé és que no és fàcil anar vestit verd.
Com aquest conjunt de festa verd que vaig estrenar fa un any i que fa poc em vaig tornar a posar. En un any l'he dut quatre o cinc cops, no més. 


I guess it must not be easy being green, I do know it is not easy dressing in green.
Like this green pantsuit  which I sewed a year ago.  Last weekend I could wear it again. I have worn it four or five times in one year, not more. 

La roba verda és crepe  satinat i la roba estampada, poliéster. 

La túnica és el model 114 de Burda agost 2014., té màniga caiguda i és una mica ajustada. El patró original porta una cremallera  a l'espatlla, jo no l'hi vaig posar però hi vaig fer una obertura vertical amb un botó.

El pantaló és el model 41 de la revista Moda de Pasarela núm. 9, el vaig triar perquè la trinxa fa corbatura i s'ajusta molt bé. Hi vaig afegir butxaques.

The green fabric is sateen crepe and the printed one is polyester.

The tunic is 114 Burda august 2014, it has dropped shoulder and it is semi-fitted. The pattern features a zipper on the shoulder, I changed that for an opening in the center back, with a button.

The pants are number 41 from the magazine Moda de Pasarela, it is a magazine with Simplicity and New Look Patterns, I have seen it also in France, where it is called  Tendances Couture.

I una notícia costurera:  A finals de mes la botiga de robes del poble tanca perquè la propietària es jubila. 

Mala sort, tot i que tinc botigues de robes en pobles no gaire lluny i sinó sempre em queda Barcelona,

Com que la botiga  fa liquidació, totes les teles són a 3€ el metre i  m'he ben firat! 

Ara tinc una llista llarguíssima de peces que em vull fer aquesta primavera estiu!

And now some sewing news:  At the end of this month the town's only fabric shop closes down as its owner is retiring. 

Too bad, even though I have fabric shops in towns nearby, and otherwise there is always Barcelona.

As the shop is liquidating its stock, all the fabric costs 3€ per meter, so I have bought a lot! Now I have a very long list of garments to sew this spring and summer!

Hola a tothom

Us ha passat que una entrada en un  bloc us ha canviat per sempre la visió de la costura o la roba?

A mi em va passar amb  aquesta

Des que la vaig llegir, els quadres que no casen em fan molt mal d'ulls. 

I per posar-me un repte, l'hivern següent  vaig fer-me uns pantalons de franela de quadres, seguint , és clar, el tutorial de la inglesita.

It happened to me with  this post

From the moment I read it, I started to notice mismatched prints in many garments.

And, as a challenge, the following winter I sewed a pair of flannel plaid pants, following la inglesita's tutorial, of course.

És el model 112B  del Burda de març de 2012.

It is Burda 112 B from the march 2012 issue.

M'agrada com es posen, són ajustats de dalt i molt amples de baix.

Per marcar la ratlla de davant hi vaig fer un repunt amb un petit plec, vaig treure la idea d'un altre pantaló de  Burda.

I like the way they fit, they are fitted in the hips and wide at the lower end.

To mark the vertical line, I stitched a narrow pleat, as I had seen in another Burda pattern.

Amb els quadres fer costures verticals es fa molt fàcil. 

It is really easy to sew vertical seams following the squares. 

Ja veieu que de moment tot el que us ensenyo és de Burda, també he cosit amb altres revistes, però Burda guanya de tros...

As you can see I have only posted Burda pattern garments so far, I have sewn with other patterns, but Burda is the most used.
