La samarreta perfecta / The perfect T-shirt

Bona nit a tothom,

avui ha estat  és el meu últim dia de vacances, demà és Sant Tornem-hi!   

Davant de la meva tornada a la feina em vénen al cap els típics pensaments més frívols: quina mandra, tantes coses que havia de fer ( i no he fet) , com pot haver passat tan depressa, que bé que s'hi estava de vacances... 

Però per altra banda també hi ha la sensació d'agraïment, agraïment per tenir feina, i sobretot,  per haver pogut marxar i tornar amb tota la família amb bona salut,  sobretot després dels terribles atemptats a Catalunya...

Good night, everyone,

today has been my last day of holidays, I'm going back to work tomorrow!

Faced with that fact I start to think as many others: oh, I don't feel like going, there were so many things I had to do (and haven't done yet); it happened soo quickly, I did love to be on holiday...

But, on the other hand, I do feel grateful, grateful to have a job to go back to, and mainly, because after some travelling the whole family is here and fine, specially after the terrorist attacks in Catalonia..

# No tinc por   (# I have no fear)

A veure, de fet us volia explicar la història de la samarreta perfecta.

L'estiu de l'any passat, em vaig comprar aquesta samarreta de punt.

I intended to tell you the story of the perfect T-shirt.
Last summer, I bought this T-shirt. 

Me'n va agradar l'estampat i també la forma, sense màniques però no amb tirants. L'única pega era que era  massa llarga, la vaig escurçar.

Quan la vaig anar portant me'n vaig adonar que m'agradava molt com se'm posava.: la màniga caiguda era la mida justa. I el lateral també em resseguia les corbes molt bé

Vaig decidir doncs treure'n el patró, resseguint la samarreta.

From the T-shirt I liked the print and also the shape, sleeveless but not with straps. I only found it too long, I shortened it.

After wearing it a bit I realized I loved it on me:  the dropped shoulder, the side seams that followed my curves.

So I decided to trace the pattern from the garment. 

I n'he fet la samarreta bessona, ha estat molt ràpid, les costures dels laterals i les espatlles són amb overlock.  La vora també l'he canviat, en corba m'agrada més (ja sabeu, que no hi hagi cap línia horitzontal que travessi la part més ampla del cos)

And I have sewed the twin T-shirt, it was fast to do, overlocker seams in the side and shoulders.  The hem is curved (you know, no horizontal lines across the widest part of your body).

Comparant les fotos es veu que amb el mateix patró i teixits diferents, les samarretes no són iguals:  La primera samarreta tenia millor caient, en canvi, de seguida va començar a fer boles. De fet, un cop vaig haver fet la foto, me'n vaig desfer.

If you compare the pictures it becomes obvious that the same pattern with different fabrics gives two different garments.  The first T-shirt draped better, but it started to pill very soon. Actually, after having taken the picture, I tossed it away.

El coll és amb una tira de la mateixa roba. La vora i les mànigues les he fet amb un repunt elàstic de la màquina de cosir, ja sabeu que  el repunt amb l'agulla doble no em queda mai bé.

The neckline is finished with self-fabric binding.  I have hemmed the shirt with an elastic stitch from my sewing machine, I can't make the twin needle stitch work well!

Em sembla que ho faré més vegades, això de clonar peces comprades fetes!

I believe I will do it again, tracing patterns from RTW!

I  per acabar, fotos amb la samarreta posada. Disculpeu les arrugues, feia mooolta calor!

And I will finish with some pictures of me wearing the new T-shirt. Pardon those wrinkes, it was veeery hot!

Hexàgons / Hexagones

 Ja feia massa temps que no em feia un vestit…

It had been too long since I had last sewn a dress...

És el vestit 3B del Burda Easy 2/2015. Un vestit de punt roma una mica cenyit,  amb costures princesa, que ben bé podria haver portat la meva mare als anys 70.
Com a modificacions, he allargat el vestit i les mànigues, i no he posat els cordons a l'escot. També li he afegit unes pinces verticals a l’esquena, per definir la cintura.

It is dress 3B from Burda Easy 2/2005. A double knit dress a bit fitted, with princess seams, which my mum could very well have worn in the 70's.

I have lengthened the hem and the sleeves, and haven’t inserted the cord.  I have also added vertical back darts to get some waist definition.

Els patrons del Burda Easy són còmodes perquè no cal calcar-los, pots retallar-los directament, Si puc hi afegeixo el marge de costura abans de retallar-los, però en aquest cas els patrons estaven impresos molt estrets i no es podia.

Burda Easy Patterns allow you to cut them directly, no need to trace. Whenever possible I add the seam allowance before cutting, but here the patterns were printed so close to each other that it was not possible.

A l’hora de cosir, he mirat com estava cosit un vestit de punt estampat, comprat fet, que he portat molt.

-Les vistes són molt més grosses que les del patró de Burda, i arriben fins a la cisa.

-Les espatlles del vestit estan cosides amb overlock, i tenen silicona per evitar que s'estireganyin.
-Les espatlles de la vista estan cosides amb repunt recte.

-La vista està cosida al coll amb repunt recte, i després per sota s'ha cosit la vista als dos marges de costura,perquè no surti enfora.

-Després s'han cosit les mànigues, en pla.

I finalment s'ha cosit d'una tirada les costures laterals i les longitudinals de les mànigues

About the sewing order, I have inspected this rtw knit dress, which I have worn a lot.

-The facings are much bigger than Burda’s, and reach to the armscye.
-The dress shoulder seams are serged and stabilized with clear elastic.
-The facing shoulder seams are sewn with straight stitch.
-The facing is sewn to the neckline with straight stitch and then understitched.
-The sleeves have been sewn on the flat 
And finally, the side seams and underarms seams have been sewn together 

I he cosit el meu vestit seguint aquest ordre i sense fer cas  de les instruccions de Burda. En lloc de fer servir silicona, he reforçat les costures de les espatlles amb una tira de voraviu del mateix punt roma, perquè el voraviu té molt poca elasticitat.

So I have sewn my dress in the same order instead of following the pattern instructions .
In the shoulder seams, as I did not have clear elastic, I inserted a piece of selvedge of the same fabric, which has very little elasticity. 

I les vores... ufff  el cap de setmana vaig estar practicant amb l'agulla doble:  amb premsarobes walking foot, sobrefilant amb l'overlock abans de passar l'agulla doble, posant-hi wondertape... res, quedava un autèntic xurro.

Al final he fet punys i vores amb el triple zig-zag, sembla un repunt decoratiu i també té una mica d'elasticitat.

About the hems... ufff   I was practising with the twin needle during the weekend, using the walking foot, adding wondertape, serging the edge before sewing... no way, it was a real failure. 

So I have finished hem and cuffs using the triple zigzag stitch, it looks like a decorative stitch and it does have some elasticity.

I vosaltres, com us ho feu per les vores dels vestits de punt? O ja us heu comprat la recobridora?
