VESTIT BLANC /WHITE DRESS

Per acabar el mes d'agost us ensenyo un vestit de lli blanc, o de fil com es diu també. Sí, l'estiu s'acaba, però és ara quan estic més morena ;)

Es el patró 110  de Burda d'abril de 2013.

Hi he hagut de fer uns quants canvis, això potser explica el fet que no he trobat ningú que l'hagués cosit, cap blog, instagram... 

To say farewell to August I am going to show you a white linen dress. It is pattern 110 Burda april 2013.  Yes, summer is coming to an end, but it is the time of the year when  I am most tanned ;)

I had to make  many changes, that might explain why I haven't found any review of the dress on any blog or instagram... 

Segons el patró la tapeta va tota oberta , i arriba per sota els pits. Jo la vaig tancar fins a la línia superior de les butxaques, si us hi fixeu veureu la línia de repunts. Després  vaig haver de prolongar cap amunt les costures laterals, perquè la cisa quedava massa oberta.

As per the pattern the placket is completely open, and it reaches under the bust. I stitched it closes at the pockets' upper line, maybe you can see the stitches.

I also had to lengthen the side seams and close the armscye.

També vaig decidir eliminar la beina i la tira per lligar. Em va semblar que amb una roba tan tiesa, sense caient, no era bona idea. Perquè el vestit no quedés  sense forma li vaig cosir dos plecs a l'esquena. 

I finalment, les butxaques de baix ja les vaig suprimir des de bon començament, perquè no tenia prou roba. 

I also eliminated the casing and the tie. I didn't find it a good idea in this fabric without a drape.  I sewed two back pleats to achieve some waist definition.

And finally I didn't do the patch pockets because of lack of fabric. 

Mentre me'l feia he tingut moments de dubte però finalment estic contenta de com ha quedat el vestit.

Diu que aquesta setmana plourà, a veure si la que ve ja el puc estrenar...

I was quite doubtful while sewing it, but I'm finally happy with the result.

The weather forecast is rain this week, hopefully I will wear it the next...

SAFARI

Ara que som a  ple estiu, no hi ha res com un vestit de fil, o de lli, per anar arreglada i a la fresca. Tant serveix per dur-lo a la feina, com per anar a donar el volt arran de mar.

Nothing beats a linen dress in summer. It makes you look put together and it's as comfortable as shorts and a t-shirt. You can wear it both to work or for a promenade by the sea.

 Ja us havia explicat que la primavera de 2017 l'única botiga de teixits del meu poble va tancar.  Hi vaig anar un parell de vegades i déu-n'hi-do el que me'n vaig endur.

Per exemple, aquest tros de  fil estampat.

De seguida que el vaig veure em va venir al cap "Roba de Safari", tot i que jo no n'he fet mai cap, de safari. 

Com que només n'hi havia 1,30 m, havia de  ser per un vestit sense mànigues, i calia un patró poc complicat.

El patró és el Model 15 de la revista Moda de Pasarela 22, correspon a New Look 6302. (Gràcies, my lucky sew!, per investigar a quins patrons de Simpliciy i New Look corresponen els models de la revista).

I had already told you that in the spring of 2017 my local fabric shop closed down. I did buy a lot of fabric on sale, I still have a lot.

For instance, this remnant in printed linen.

As soon as I saw it, it reminded me of a safari, I don't know really why. There was only 1,30 m., it had to be a sleeveless dress a simple pattern.

The pattern is New Look 6302, which is number 15 in the magazine Moda de Pasarela number 22 (published in Spain).  

Per manca de roba i també per mandra, diguem-ho tot, no hi vaig posar ni butxaques ni tampoc vistes. El coll i les cises estan rematats amb cinta al biaix comprada. I trobo que va molt bé, sense vistes ni butxaques no hi ha cap mena de bony! Hi he afegit un parell de detallets com  un tall al centre posterior i un automàtic per enganxar-hi la tira dels sostens, així no surt cap  enfora.

Due to the shortage of fabric and me being lazy, I didn't add neither pockets nor facings. The neckline and the armscyes are finished with store-bought bias tape. No pockets or facings means no strange bulks at all! I have added two small details as a walking vent in the centre back and a bra strap holder with snaps.

La cremallera no arriba fins a dalt perquè hi va haver "un petit incident", ho vaig arreglar com vaig poder. De totes maneres, em sembla que repetiré la jugada. Quan l'escot és gros i el vestit passa pel cap. queda millor posar el biaix continu i la cremallera per sota.  M'hi he fixat i en algun vestit comprat ho tinc així.

The zipper doesn't reach the back neckline because of a small accident which I solved as best as I could. Anyway, I believe it is a good idea and I will be doing it like this whenever the neckline is wide enough to let my head through. I have realised it is like this in some of the RTW dresses I own.

Després d'haver dut el vestit uns quants cops, estic molt contenta de com se'm posa, no és ni massa estret ni un sac de patates. 

Citant la Sara de goodbye valentino , qui cita la dissenyadora Edith Head:
"Un vestit t'hauria d'anar prou estret perquè es vegi que ets una dona, però prou ample perquè quedi clar que ets una senyora."

After having worn the dress several times, I feel very happy about its fit, it is neither too tight nor shapeless.
As Sara in goodbye valentino, I may quote the designer

Edith Head.……… “A dress should be tight enough to show you’re a woman and loose enough to prove you’re a lady.”

Texans d'estiu / Summer jeans

Bona nit a tothom,quina calda!!
A ple estiu no em poso mai texans. Trobo que fan mooolta fan calor. A ple hivern tampoc me'n poso,  els trobo freds. Però visc a la Catalunya central i aquí fa més calor a l'estiu que fred a l'hivern. 

De fet a l'estiu el que més m'agrada dur són vestits, i alguna faldilla.   El que passa és que a vegades va bé tenir pantalons d'estiu llargs.

Per això m'he fet aquests pantalons de fil. Són de color blau marí, o sigui que deuen combinar amb tot, com els texans.

I dont' wear jeans in summer. I live in central Catalonia, an hour's drive from Barcelona, and it's hot here in summer. HOT. 

In summer I prefer dresses, and also skirts. But sometimes you need a pair of long pants. 

So I have sewn a pair of linen pants. They are navy blue, so I guess they pretty much match with everything

Són el model 102 del Burda de maig de 2017.  Ja us n'havia parlat aquí.  Són amples de baix, però de dalt van ajustadets.

M'agrada molt com se'm posen de darrera. Segur que és perquè la trinxa fa corba. I jo a més, hi afegeixo una costura posterior central.

They are Burda 102 from May 2017 issue. I had already told you  about them here. They are wide legged but tight from waist to hip. 
I do like the way they fit in the back. I guess it is because the waistband is curved and not straight. And I also sew a seam in the center back of the waistband. 

Les butxaques de pedaç són decoratives, tampoc no les faria servir.  He llegit a molts llocs que les butxaques posteriors fa que no se't vegi tan grossa de darrera. 
Les vaig haver de pujar 2 cms, descosir-les i tornar-les a muntar més amunt quan ja estaven acabades. Em va fer mandra però va valer la pena, de fet potser les hauria d'haver pujat 1 cm més, què us sembla?

The patch pockets aren't functional. I have read in many places that pockets in your back make it look smaller. 

I had to raise them pockets 2 cms, when they were already sewn. It was not fun but worth it. I even think I should have raised them 1 cm. higher, what do you think?

Les butxaques de davant, em van quedar bé, i les vaig rematar amb cinta al biaix i tot. Però no sé si perquè em vaig oblidar de posar entretela a la vora, o per la forma que tenen, s'obrien molt. O sigui que després de dur els pantalons amb les butxaques funcionals durant un dia i consultar-ho amb una companya de feina, vaig passar-los un repunt vist i ara també només són decoratives.

The front hip pockets turned out well, I even finished them with bias tape. But, maybe because I forgot to interface their edges ,or because of their shape, they gaped a lot. After wearing the pants to work one day and consulting with a colleague, I made up my mind and stitched closed the pockets, now they aren't functional any more. 

El dia que tingui temps (i ganes), faré aquests sacs de butxaca més petits.  
Someday, when I feel like it, I might cut this pocket bags smaller...



Estic contenta dels pantalons, però trobo que se'm posen més bé de darrera que de davant. Em sembla que a davant la línia del "tiro" és massa llarga.   A veure si repeteixo el patró, i faig proves escurçant-lo.

All in all I am happy with this pants, but I feel they fit me better in the back than in the front. I guess the crotch line is too long in the front. I will have to sew another pair using the same pattern and make some muslin with a shorter crotch...

De totes maneres ara ja tinc uns texans d'estiu!!
