HÄNGSELKJOL

Aquest és el nom de la peça de vestir que m'he fet. Vol dir "faldilla penjant" en suec. Suposo que en català en diríem una faldilla de pitet o de tirants, oi?

This is the Swedish name for this garment. It means "hanging skirt". I guess in English it is called dungaree skirt? Any idea?

És el patró 5A de la revista Burda Easy primavera estiu 2014, edició sueca. Una d'aquelles peces que segur que no trobaria a la botiga, almenys de la llargada que a mi m'agrada.

The pattern is number 5A from the Swedish edition of the magazine Burda Easy spring summer 2014. One of those garments I am sure I would be unable to find in RTW, at least with the length I want it to be. 

També és un reciclatge. Està cosit amb roba texana, reciclada  de tres tops iguals.  Me'ls va passar una amiga que en tenia molts, no sé d'on els havia tret . Vaig haver de fer tetris, tallar alguna peça a contrafil, fer una costura central en la part inferior de la faldilla, i folrar els tirants amb una roba diferent, però me'n vaig ensortir. Els botons són reutilitzats. 

This project is also a recycling project. Sewn with 3 grey denim tops, a friend had plenty of them , I don't know the reason, and she gave me three. There was hardly enough fabric, some pieces are cut on the cross grain, the lower skirt has a central seam, and the straps are lined with a different fabric, but I did manage.  The buttons are reused from another skirt. 

La roba és un pèl tiesa, però còmoda de dur. Ja l'he estrenat i com que  no s'enganxa al cos, deixa passar l'aire i és fresqueta. 

I have already worn it twice, the fabric is stiff but it lets the air circulate so it feels comfortable in hot weather. 

És divertit provar noves maneres de vestir-se!

TEXÀ / DENIM

Des que vaig començar a cosir, l'any 2012, havia provat més d'un cop de reciclar alguna peça, haig de reconèixer que amb poc èxit . Aquest any finalment he reeixit en reciclar peces texanes, una faldilla i dos pantalons.

Ever since I started sewing in 2012, I had tried some upcycling projects, without much success. This year I have finally managed to recycle denim garments:  a skirt ant two jeans.

Aquí veieu la faldilla, feia temps que la tenia i no me la posava gairebé mai, la trobava molt encarcarada i poc afavoridora.

Here is the skirt, it was too stiff and I hadn't worn it for a while, it was not flattering on me. 

Vaig fer-ne el més obvi: una bossa de nanses.  Per no veure la bragueta de la faldilla al bell mig de la bossa, la vaig retallar, i vaig girar la bossa. O sigui que aquí veieu una butxaca de davant (a la dreta) i una butxaca de darrera (a l'esquerra).

I sewed the most obvious: a zippered tote bag. I cut the fly off and turned the skirt, so here you see the side seam in the centre, the front pocket on the right and the back pocket on the left. 

Perquè una bossa sigui pràctica ha de tenir folre, cremallera i butxaques interiors,  la cremallera la vaig comprar però les butxaques són fetes amb parts de la mateixa faldilla. El folre corria per casa. 

A practical bag must be zippered, lined and with inner pockets. I did buy the zipper, but the inner pockets are recycled from the skirt, the lining was a remnant I had at home. 

Quan vaig arribar a les nanses ja no em quedava roba, les he tret dels camals d'uns texans infantils, són la cara del revés. Van cosides com un biaix i amb dues fileres de repunts, per no haver-les de girar.

There was no fabric left for the straps, I used the legs from a pair of children's jeans. they are sewn as a bias tape, and topstitched along the two edges. No turning tubes!  And the side you can see is the wrong side of the jeans. 

Ara a esperar que faci més caloreta, no m'imagino dur aquesta bossa amb un abric...

Now I must wait for the warm weather to arrive, this is not a bag I would wear with a coat...

I el segon projecte és un conjunt de pitets amb trossos de pantalons texans. Cada pitet va decorat diferent. Es tanquen amb snaps. Són per nadons, de mida petita.

Per darrera van acabats amb punt de cotó orgànic. 

The second project is a set of baby bibs from jeans' remnants. Every bib has different decoration. They are closed with snaps. Really tiny bibs, for babies.

They are lined in organic cotton knit. 

En aquest pitet vaig fer repunt tot al voltant, la roba es va ondular una mica per culpa de la cara de punt.

In this bib I did topstitch around all the edge, and the fabric got wavy because of the knit lining...

Per això en els altres no hi vaig fer repunt al voltant, només el de baix per girar-los. 

Therefore the following bibs have only topstitiching in the hem, where they were turned inside out.

De moment prou texà,  però vaja, se m'han obert un munt de possibilitats!

Enough of denim for now, but I am already thinking of other denim projects!
