VESTIT CREUAT / WRAP DRESS

Hola a tothom,

L'última entrada del meu blog la vaig escriure el cap de setmana que va començar el desconfinament, recordeu quan només es podia sortir a fer esport dins del terme municipal i en la franja horària de 7 a 10 del matí i del 8 a 10 del vespre?

Espero que hagueu passat un bon estiu, lliures de Covid. Jo he mirat d'aprofitar-lo al màxim:  platja, muntanya, i també costura. Un altre dia us ensenyaré el que he cosit durant l'estiu.

I wrote the last post in the blog when we were starting to leave the lockdown, now we are starting to leave a second, but lighter, lockdown.

I hope you have spent a nice summer, without Covid-19. I have been enjoying it and sewing a bit, I will show you soon what I have been doing.

Avui però, veureu un vestit creuat que vaig acabar la setmana passada. Feia temps que me'n volia fer un. 

Today you are going to see this wrap dress which I finished last week. It had been in my sewing wish list for a long time. 

                    

El patró és el núm. 109 del Burda d'agost de 2017, i la roba és punt de samarreta.

I què he après?

Que el vestit creuat és un clàssic que afavoreix a totes les dones que tenim"formes" ;). Té diferents variants. 

Per exemple, el meu vestit té costura a la cintura i pinces. 

N'hi ha que no tenen ni una cosa ni l'altra, deuen ser molt ràpids de cosir. 

El meu vestit no porta punys, n'hi ha que sí. 

I finalment, el meu vestit s'acaba amb una vista, mentre que altres porten una peça de remat.  Tinc ganes de provar-ne un amb peça de remat, suposo que t'estalvies el problema que la vista surti cap enfora.

And what have I learnt?

That the wrap dress is figure flattering for women with curves.  Some dresses, like mine  have a waist seam and darts, others have neither waist seam nor darts.

Some have cuffs, others don't. 

And finally, my dress is finished with a facing, while others have a band. I guess that a band gives a bettter finish and you avoid the facing from peeking out.

COLL DRAPEJAT / COWL NECK

Ha passat un altre hivern sense haver-me cosit un abric...

No passa res, ho apunto per la tardor! 

Fa tanta calor que vaig posar-me a remenar els teixits d'estiu, i hi vaig trobar un vestit a mig cosir. L'havia començat fa dos o tres estius, em vaig encallar en un detall de l'escot, i allà es va quedar.

No tenia gens de ganes d'acabar-lo, i vaig mirar si la roba m'arribava per fer un top de coll drapejat. I em va arribar.

Vaig fer servir la part de darrera del vestit, que era més ampla que el davant, i un retall que n'havia sobrat

Another winter has passed and I have not yet sewn a coat...

Oh well, I will do it next fall!

It is so hot here that I started to browse through my summer fabrics, and I found an UFO, a knit dres which I had left halfway two or three years ago. 

I really didn't feel like finishing it, so I checked if there was enough fabric left to sew a cowl neck top. There was, using a remnant plus the back of the dress which was wider than the front. 

És el patró 110 de Burda maig 2012. Un patró hiperfàcil, només té dues peces, davant i darrera. L'havia cosit el maig de 2012, i sí que llavors em va costar una mica... alguna cosa he après en set anys!  El top ja no existia i m'havia agradat molt,  tocava fer-ne un de nou.

L'única modificació respecte el patró original ha estat escurçar-lo 5 cms., i encara el trobo llarg!

L'he cosit tot en màquina plana, fent servir repunts elàstics i jugant tant amb la tensió del fil com amb la pressió del premsarobes.  La meva màquina nova és una canya!

It is pattern number 110 Burda may 2012. A really easy pattern, as it only has two pieces, front and back. I had sewn it in may 2012,  then it took me much longer that now. Well, I must have learnt something in seven years. That top no longer exists so it was time to sew it again.

The only change has been to shorten it 5 cms., and I still find it a bit too long!

I have sewn it all in the sewing machine, no overlock threading! I have used elastic stitches and adjusted both the thread tension and the presser foot pressure. My new machine is great!

VESTIT ALLISON / ALLISON DRESS

Aquest vestit no es podia dir un altre nom que no fos Allison.

Des de fa molt temps segueixo el blog de l'Allison de Hong Kong. Si no el coneixeu us el recomano, sobretot si us agrada Burda. 

M'encanta tota la roba que es fa l'Allison, i em faria tot els seus vestits de punt. M'he fixat que hi ha un patró que ha cosit moooolts cops.

This dress could only be called Allison's dress.

I have been following Allison from Hong Kong blog for a while.  If you don't know it I can recommend it to you, specially if you like Burdastyle patterns. 

I love all garments Allison sews, specially her knit dresses. I would make them all. And there is a pattern which she has sewn maaaany times.

El patró 105 del Burda de maig de 2010.He vist que l'ha cosit tants cops i queda tan bé i sembla tan fàcil, que me n'ha fet venir moltes ganes.

Jo l'any 2010 encara no comprava el Burda ni cosia, però per una casualitat vaig arreplegar el Burda de maig de 2010!  Els astres s'havien alineat, ara l'havia de cosir.

It is pattern number 105 from Burda may 2010. I really felt I wanted to sew this dress, but in 2010 I neither sewed nor bought Burda. But unexpectedly I got hold of that magazine! So there were no excuses left, I had to sew it now. 

La roba és punt de viscosa, té bon caient però és molt primeta. Per això li he posat folre de punt a la faldilla. 

Essent com és un patró fàcil, trobo que les instruccions del Burda són dolentes amb ganes. Per exemple, per inserir la goma de la cintura fan cosir una beina i posar-la dins i  ja sabem que si ho fas així la goma es comença a cargolar. 

A la costura de la cintura jo  vaig cosir amb overlock 4 capes:  cos, faldilla, folre i goma.   Va anar prou bé, perquè ho vaig embastar abans.  La goma cosida a la roba mai no es cargola i queda molt millor. 

The fabric is rayon knit, it drapes well but it is very thin. Therefore I lined the skirt with knit lining.

The dress is very easy to sew, but Burda's instructions are very bad. For instance, it tells you to insert the waist elastic in a casing, which is always a bad solution, as the elastic turns and twists. So I serged four layers at the waistband seam: two layers of knit fabric, one layer of lining, and the elastic. I basted everything - except the elastic - together before serging, and it worked very well. 

He estabilitzat la costura de l'espatlla amb  un tros de voraviu del mateix punt 
Shoulder seam is stabilized with a bit of selvedge from the same rayon knit.

Després de fer aquesta foto vaig notar que el folre era massa llarg i el vaig retallar 5 cms.

Ni la faldilla de punt ni el folre no tenen vora. Estan tallats amb el cúter i prou.  Trobo que això fa que tinguin molt bon caient. 

After taking this picture of the dress inside out I realized the lining was too long and I cut it shorter.

Both the shell fabric and the lining are unhemmed, just cut with the rotary cutter. That helps the dress hang very smoothly IMO.

SUPERPOSICIÓ / OVERLAY

avui us presento l'última peça que em vaig fer l'any 2017.

A vegades, quan tinc ganes de cosir però estic massa cansada - cosa que em passa sovint als vespres - m'entretinc fullejant la meva col.lecció de revistes de patrons. En tinc una bona colla, potser arribo a les 50.

I així vaig retrobar el patró de vestit 105 del Burda de març 2016. D'aquells patrons que quan vaig comprar la revista ja vaig pensar que em faria però...

Today I show you the last garment that I sewed in 2017.

Sometimes, when I feel like sewing but I'm too tired - which happens often to me in the evenings - I start to  browse through my stash of pattern magazines. I have quite a few, around 50 I guess.

And so I found again the dress pattern number 105 from Burda March 2016. One of those patterns that when I bought the magazine I  thought that I would sew soon but...

Val més tard que mai!

Better late than never!

És un vestit de punt sense mànigues, amb un sobrevestit que és una samarreta de màniga llarga. Tots dos vestits van units pel coll i per les cises.

Vaig utilitzar punt amb contingut de licra, i la faldilla no s'enganxa a les mitges! 

Els repunts rectes de la màquina de cosir els vaig haver de fer amb premsarobes de doble arrastre "walking foot". Vaig estabilitzar amb fliselina les costures de les espatlles i l'escot.

Estic molt satisfeta d'aquest vestit: és fàcil i ràpid de cosir, còmode de portar, i és ample però no és "sac de patates". Té detalls com el plec a l'esquena,  els plecs petits en el davant de la faldilla, la vora en corba del sobrevestit... 

Els únics canvis que vaig fer van ser escurçar el vestit fins a sobre els genolls i fer el cos interior amb la mateixa roba i no en roba de folre com indicava Burda.

It is a sleeveless knit dress, with an over-dress that is a long-sleeved shirt. Both layers are stitched together at the neckline and the armscyes.

I used double knit  with lycra content, and the skirt does not cling to my tights! 

On the other hand,   the straight stitches were sewn in the sewing machine using a walking foot" . I stabilized the neckline and shoulders seams with interfacing.

I am very satisfied with this dress: it is easy and fast to sew, comfortable to wear, and is wide but not shapeless. It has details like the pleat in the back, the small pleats in the front of the skirt, the low-high hem of the overdress..

The only changes I made were to shorten the dress up to my knees and sew the inner bodice in fashion fabric and not in lining as indicated by Burda.

Hexàgons / Hexagones

 Ja feia massa temps que no em feia un vestit…

It had been too long since I had last sewn a dress...

És el vestit 3B del Burda Easy 2/2015. Un vestit de punt roma una mica cenyit,  amb costures princesa, que ben bé podria haver portat la meva mare als anys 70.
Com a modificacions, he allargat el vestit i les mànigues, i no he posat els cordons a l'escot. També li he afegit unes pinces verticals a l’esquena, per definir la cintura.

It is dress 3B from Burda Easy 2/2005. A double knit dress a bit fitted, with princess seams, which my mum could very well have worn in the 70's.

I have lengthened the hem and the sleeves, and haven’t inserted the cord.  I have also added vertical back darts to get some waist definition.

Els patrons del Burda Easy són còmodes perquè no cal calcar-los, pots retallar-los directament, Si puc hi afegeixo el marge de costura abans de retallar-los, però en aquest cas els patrons estaven impresos molt estrets i no es podia.

Burda Easy Patterns allow you to cut them directly, no need to trace. Whenever possible I add the seam allowance before cutting, but here the patterns were printed so close to each other that it was not possible.

A l’hora de cosir, he mirat com estava cosit un vestit de punt estampat, comprat fet, que he portat molt.

-Les vistes són molt més grosses que les del patró de Burda, i arriben fins a la cisa.

-Les espatlles del vestit estan cosides amb overlock, i tenen silicona per evitar que s'estireganyin.
-Les espatlles de la vista estan cosides amb repunt recte.

-La vista està cosida al coll amb repunt recte, i després per sota s'ha cosit la vista als dos marges de costura,perquè no surti enfora.

-Després s'han cosit les mànigues, en pla.

I finalment s'ha cosit d'una tirada les costures laterals i les longitudinals de les mànigues

About the sewing order, I have inspected this rtw knit dress, which I have worn a lot.

-The facings are much bigger than Burda’s, and reach to the armscye.
-The dress shoulder seams are serged and stabilized with clear elastic.
-The facing shoulder seams are sewn with straight stitch.
-The facing is sewn to the neckline with straight stitch and then understitched.
-The sleeves have been sewn on the flat 
And finally, the side seams and underarms seams have been sewn together 

I he cosit el meu vestit seguint aquest ordre i sense fer cas  de les instruccions de Burda. En lloc de fer servir silicona, he reforçat les costures de les espatlles amb una tira de voraviu del mateix punt roma, perquè el voraviu té molt poca elasticitat.

So I have sewn my dress in the same order instead of following the pattern instructions .
In the shoulder seams, as I did not have clear elastic, I inserted a piece of selvedge of the same fabric, which has very little elasticity. 

I les vores... ufff  el cap de setmana vaig estar practicant amb l'agulla doble:  amb premsarobes walking foot, sobrefilant amb l'overlock abans de passar l'agulla doble, posant-hi wondertape... res, quedava un autèntic xurro.

Al final he fet punys i vores amb el triple zig-zag, sembla un repunt decoratiu i també té una mica d'elasticitat.

About the hems... ufff   I was practising with the twin needle during the weekend, using the walking foot, adding wondertape, serging the edge before sewing... no way, it was a real failure. 

So I have finished hem and cuffs using the triple zigzag stitch, it looks like a decorative stitch and it does have some elasticity.

I vosaltres, com us ho feu per les vores dels vestits de punt? O ja us heu comprat la recobridora?
