VESTIT CREUAT / WRAP DRESS

Hola a tothom,

L'última entrada del meu blog la vaig escriure el cap de setmana que va començar el desconfinament, recordeu quan només es podia sortir a fer esport dins del terme municipal i en la franja horària de 7 a 10 del matí i del 8 a 10 del vespre?

Espero que hagueu passat un bon estiu, lliures de Covid. Jo he mirat d'aprofitar-lo al màxim:  platja, muntanya, i també costura. Un altre dia us ensenyaré el que he cosit durant l'estiu.

I wrote the last post in the blog when we were starting to leave the lockdown, now we are starting to leave a second, but lighter, lockdown.

I hope you have spent a nice summer, without Covid-19. I have been enjoying it and sewing a bit, I will show you soon what I have been doing.

Avui però, veureu un vestit creuat que vaig acabar la setmana passada. Feia temps que me'n volia fer un.

El patró és el núm. 109 del Burda d'agost de 2017, i la roba és punt de samarreta.

I què he après?

Que el vestit creuat és un clàssic que afavoreix a totes les dones que tenim"formes" ;). Té diferents variants. 

Per exemple, el meu vestit té costura a la cintura i pinces. 

N'hi ha que no tenen ni una cosa ni l'altra, deuen ser molt ràpids de cosir. 

El meu vestit no porta punys, n'hi ha que sí. 

I finalment, el meu vestit s'acaba amb una vista, mentre que altres porten una peça de remat.  Tinc ganes de provar-ne un amb peça de remat, suposo que t'estalvies el problema que la vista surti cap enfora.

And what have I learnt?

That the wrap dress is figure flattering for women with curves.  Some dresses, like mine  have a waist seam and darts, others have neither waist seam nor darts.

Some have cuffs, others don't. 

And finally, my dress is finished with a facing, while others have a band. I guess that a band gives a bettter finish and you avoid the facing from peeking out.

AL VENT / TO THE WIND

Bona tarda i bon confinament.
Good afternoon, in quarantine I suppose...

Com voleien aquests pantalons!!
These pants do blow in the wind!!

A finals d'estiu de l'any passat vaig veure que l'Helena  de @maquinandopatrones s'havia fet uns pantalons així. Aquí teniu la seva entrada.

I vaig decidir que quan vingués la primavera me'n faria uns. Ja se sap que molts cops ens posem llistes de desitjos o obligacions costureres i no les complim, però aquest cop sí.

At the end of last summer I read this blog post by Helena @maquinandopatrones and decided I wanted to sew such  wrap pants. 

There are plenty of tutorials on you tube about how to sew them...

Com en diríeu en català, "pantaló embolcallant", potser? A internet hi podeu trobar molts tutorials de pantalons com aquests , com  a "pantalón envolvente" o "wrap pant".

He utilitzat una roba amb molt caient, és una mescla de poliéster, em va arribar justa, perquè aquest tipus de pantalons són molt fàcils de cosir però gasten molta roba. 

El petit estampat geomètric, tipus corbata, va ajudar molt a tallar-los rectes, perquè la roba rellisca com una mala cosa, Per fer les vores, les vaig haver d'embastar, amb agulles de cap no n'hi havia prou.

I have used a polyblend with a good drape, I didn't have much to choose from, this does use a lot of fabric. This small print helped me cut straight lines, because this is a very slippery fabric. To hem it I had to baste it first. But it was worth it, as the print matches where it should...

Però si ho mires d'aprop, es nota. Mireu com casen els estampats...

Ja fa tres setmanes que els vaig acabar i encara no els he estrenat... tot arribarà!

GARBUIX / MESS

Bon dia a tothom, espero que estigueu bé de salut.
Ens trobem dins un bon garbuix, dins un bon embolic, el coronavirus domina el nostre món.
Però no és per això que el títol d'aquesta entrada és Garbuix.

Es per aquest patró:

Good morning everyone, I hope you are all in good health!
We are in the middle of the mess caused by the coronavirus, but that is not the reason for this post being called Mess.

The reason is this pattern:


Des que vaig veure el patró en el Burda de febrer de 2018, que el volia cosir, i aquests dies m'ha vingut de gust.
L'únic és que tenia poques robes per triar, ha de ser de punt prim, amb bon caient, i en calen 2 m. 

L'he feta amb un punt calat que vaig comprar en un JoAnn de New Jersey l'estiu de 2013. Ja tocava fer-lo servir!
En aquesta foto sembla una samarreta màniga llarga normal i corrent...

Ever since I saw this pattern in Burda february 2018 I have been wishing to sew it. And the day has come.
Only being at home I had few fabrics to choose from, as it demands 2 m. of a thin knit with a good drape.

I have used a green knit with some see-through print, bought in a JoAnn in New Jersey in the summer of 2013. It was about time...
In this picture it looks like a regular long sleeved tee...

But it is not:

Si us hi fixeu veureu que per darrera, només té costura ranglan a la màniga de la banda dreta.

I per davant, només té costura a la màniga de la banda esquerra.

If you look carefully you will see that in the back it only has a right sleeve raglan seam

And in the front, it only has a left sleeve raglam seam.  

 

La samarreta és molt fàcil i ràpida de cosir. El que és lent és calcar el patró per parts, afegir-li marges de costura, i  tallar-lo. Amb el patró a punt,  s'enllesteix en un moment. 

L'he cosida amb l'overlock, menys les vores, fetes amb la màquina de cosir amb zig-zag de tres punts. 

The t-shirt is fast and easy to sew. What is more troublesome is tracing the huge pattern, adding seam allowances and cutting it. Once the pattern is ready, you got your shirt in no time.

I have sewn it with the overlock, except the hems, sewn in the regular sewing machine with a three-point zig zag stitch.

Segur que la tornaré a cosir, ara ja tinc el patró!  Triaré un color més clar per poder-la combinar amb texans blaus.

I ara, a esperar per estrenar-la.

I will for sure be sewing it again, I have the pattern ready now! I will probably use a lighter colour to pair it with blue jeans.

FARBALANS / RUFFLES

Holaaa
Aquest 2019 no ha estat un gran any pel que fa a la costura, però s'acaba amb un projecte que em deixa molt contenta.

2019 has not been a great sewing year, but it ends with a very satisfying project.

És el vestit núm. 112 del Burda de gener de 2017. 

Quan vaig comprar la revista ja em va cridar l'atenció.  I fa un any més o menys, vaig treure patrons, comprar la roba i tallar el vestit. I així es va quedar fins que a principis d'aquest mes, vaig decidir que el volia començar.

It is dress number 112 from Burda january 2017. I loved it from the beginning. I traced the patterns and cut the fabric one year ago, but only started sewing it at the beginning of this month.

La costura ha estat bastant fàcil. Cal parar atenció a la vora enrotllada dels farbalans, això sí. Però van sortir bé. La roba és crèpe-setí, empipadora de tallar, i sobretot de descosir !

It has been rather easy to sew. The most laborious part are the ruffles and their rolled hem. The fabric is crepe-sateen, difficult to cut and to unpick!

És un vestit força ample. La costura central posterior, la vaig entrar 4 cm a la cintura i vaig anar definint cap amunt i cap avall. No vaig fer-li l'obertura del clatell, no calia.

It is a rather roomy dress. I had to narrow it 4 cms. at the centre back waist. It was not necessary to leave any opening in the back collar. 

El mateix dia que el vaig acabar el vaig estrenar, al Concert de Sant Esteve al Palau de la Música Catalana.

I finished it just in time to wear it to the Concert de Sant Esteve in Palau de la Música Catalana, in Barcelona.

VESTIT LLARG I ... / MAXI DRESS I ...

Ja s'ha acabat l'estiu però encara fa calor, així que m'afanyo a ensenyar-vos el vestit llarg que em vaig fer el mes d'agost. 

És el maxi vestit model 106 de Burda febrer 2013.

Està fet amb una viscosa estampada que té molta caiguda i és molt fresca.
Del vestit me'n va agradar sobretot l'escot, no havia cosit mai un escot així. És entretingut de cosir, però fa estiu!


The summer is over but it's still hot, so I can still show you the long dress I sewed back in August.
It is the maxi dress model 106 of Burda February 2013.It is made of a good quality rayon, which has a lot of drape and is very comfortable for hot weather.

I especially liked the neckline, I had never sewn a neckline like that. It's laborious to make it look good, but it looks very summery!

També és xulo el detall del tall lateral.
The detail of the sideslit is also cute.

Vaig estar dubtant molt de si posar una goma per marcar la cintura i al final no ho vaig fer. Encara no veig clar si vaig prendre la decisió correcta però el vestit ja està fet i estrenat. I aviat, el desaré fins la propera temporada!

I was very hesitant about whether to insert an elastic around the waist and in the end I did not. I am still not sure if I made the right decision but the dress is finished and worn. And soon, it will be stored away until next summer!

Amb la viscosa que em va sobrar vaig cosir-me un turbant seguint aquest tutorial de Lucía de Menudo Numerito.  M'encanta el toc que li dóna.
With the remnants, I sewed a headscarf as in this tutorial of Lucía de Menudo Numerito. (in Spanish).

TEXAS

Per una vegada que compro roba i me'n faig un vestit de seguida, llavors tardo un parell de mesos a publicar-lo!

Coses de l'estiu i de la mandra que fa posar-se davant l'ordinador...

I was really quick to sew this fabric after buying it, but then it has taken me two months to publish this dress!

But of course, who feels like sitting in front of a computer when it is summer?

Aquesta roba la vaig comprar a un JoAnn de Dallas, Texas, quan hi vaig ser a principis de juny. ( Ja us ho vaig explicar al meu Instagram.) És un cotó, una mena de texà molt prim amb estampat estiuenc. Sense elasticitat. 

Tant bon punt vaig tornar, em vaig fer el vestit. Tenia clar que faria servir el mateix patró del vestit Safari de l'any passat, o sigui el patró núm. 15 de la revista Moda de Pasarela núm. 22. ( New Look 6302). Aquest estampat demanava un patró senzill.

I bought this fabric at the beginning of June in a JoAnn near Dallas, Texas (I told about it in my Instagram). It is cotton,  a lightweight denim with a summery print. No stretchy at all.

As soon as I arrived home, I sewed the dress. I used the same pattern as my Safari dress from last year, that is, New Look 6302. This heavy print matches best with a simple pattern.

Per fer-ho encara més fàcil no vaig posar-hi cremallera, perquè l'altre vestit me'l poso i me'l trec sense tocar-la. Només l'he escotat una mica més de davant.

To make it easier I skipped the zipper, which I never need to be used in my Safari dress. I just lowered the front neckline a bit.

La resta, doncs igual, escot i cises acabades amb cinta al biaix, i aquest cop no ha estat per falta de roba.

I que no faltin els atrapa-sostenidors, són tan pràctics!

The rest of dress is just the same, neckline and armscyes finished with bias binding, although I had plenty of fabric.

And of course the bra strap holders, they are so practical!

M'agrada quan el taronja de la cinta al biaix s'insinua des del dret..
I like to see the orange bias binding peeping out from the wrong side...

Aviat us ensenyaré un altre vestit, que ja està acabat!

DESSUADORA/SWEATSHIRT

Vaig començar l'any amb ganes de cosir bosses vàries i altres  costures per la casa. Les podeu veure al meu compte d'Instagram @eldidalaldit.

Ara torno amb una peça de roba per mi.

Since the beginning of the year I have been mostly sewing bags and other home related stuff. You can check it at my instagram account @eldidalaldit.

Now I return to garment sewing, with a sweatshirt for me.

Una dessuadora molt ampla i de màniga caiguda. 

És el patró 111 del Burda de febrer de 2017.

An oversized sweatshirt with a dropped shoulder.

Pattern is 111 from Burda february 2017.

La roba és piqué elàstic, és una mica delicada, d'aquelles robes on de seguida s'hi fan enganxades.

No sé si repetiré aquest patró, perquè és mooolt ample.  Això sí, té la gràcia que pots jugar amb les ratlles verticals i horitzontals, i que no has de casar les ratlles a la costura lateral. 

The fabric is elastic pique, very pleasant to the skin.

I am not sure I will be sewing this pattern again, it is soo oversize. I do love the fact that it lacks a side seam and it bring interest with stripes in different directions.

L'interior del coll està acabat amb un tros de punt vermell, un cop penjada, queda més polit que si es veuen els repunts de la remalladora.
The interior is the collar is finished with a stripe of red knit, like the rtw tee-shirts.


Aquí es veu com amb el mateix repunt i la mateixa tensió, quan cosim al recte fil (esquerra) la vora no s'ondula, i quan cosim al contra fil (dreta), la vora s'ondula perquè la roba té més elasticitat en horitzontal....
Here you can see how, using the same stitch and tension, when you sew along the grain (left), the hem doesn't twist, and when we sew across the grain (right), it does twist because this fabric has more elasticity across the grain...

Perquè l'escot no quedés tant ample, he fet aquest plec a l'esquena. Trobo que hi queda prou bé.

In order to make the neckline less wide, I have sewn this pleat on the centre back. I do like it.

 El patró porta una butxaca amagada en aquesta costura en diagonal, no l'hi vaig fer per no afegir volum.

As per the pattern there is a hidden pocket behind the diagonal seam, I didn't sew it to avoid more volume there.
