avui us presento la meva jaqueta nova, la jaqueta Tello.

Good evening,
today I am introducing my new jacket, the Tello jacket.

Em feia falta una jaqueta de mig temps, sense folrar, i vaig decidir-me a provar aquest patró, que em va tocar com a regal del Sewing Camp.  Es el primer cop que faig servir un patró "de sobre".

I needed an unlined spring jacket, so I decided to try this pattern, which I received as a present in the Sewing Camp. It is the first time I sew an "envelope pattern".

Fa temps que segueixo la dissenyadora,Pauline Alice, al seu blog, té peces moníssimes. I aquesta jaqueta no m'ha decebut.

Volia una jaqueta llisa, de color clar, l'hivern ja s'ha acabat i n'he quedat tipa de roba fosca, no sé si a vosaltres us passa el mateix. Vaig comprar una sarja de cotó de color cru, amb molt poca elasticitat. 

I have been following the designer's blog, Pauline Alice, for a long time, and I love her garments. This jacket has really fulfilled my expectations.
I wanted a jacket in a light solid colour, winter is over and I have had enough of dark garments, I don't know if the same happens to you. I bought off-white cotton twill with very little stretch.

És clar, que la roba sigui llisa i tan clara fa que es notin tooots els defectes...
Of course, a fabric in a light an solid colour shows all the sins...

Què us puc dir del patró?

Doncs per començar, que en les instruccions hi posa que el patró està dissenyat per dones d'1,65 m. d'alçada amb una copa B de pit.  Són les meves mides, o sigui que de moment bé.

El patró porta ja els marges de costura d'1,5 cms, ho trobo molt pràctic. Com que a més no vaig calcar-lo sinó tallar-lo directament, de seguida vaig tenir les peces de roba apunt d'embastar.

Les instruccions del llibret són molt detallades, i fàcils de seguir. Em va estranyar però que no mencionés l'entretela, jo n'he posat a les vistes i al coll. Tampoc no parla de muscleres, també n'hi he posat. I, tant per tant, trobo que estaria bé que portés també instruccions per fer la jaqueta folrada...

Per cosir la jaqueta he seguit l'ordre del llibret però optimitzant recursos:  cosia el màxim de peces seguides, llavors les sobrefilava amb l'overlock, passava el repunt vist a totes,  llavors les planxava, etc.

What can I say about the pattern?
Well, to begin with, the instructions say that the pattern is designed for women 1.65 m. tall and with B bust cup. These are my sizes, so great beginning.
The pattern includes seam allowances of 1.5 cms, I find it very practical. Since I did not trace the patterns but cut them directly, I immediately had the garment ready to baste.
The instructions in the booklet are very detailed, and easy to follow. But I was surprised that there was no mention of interfacing,I used it in facings and collar.  Nor did it mention shoulder pads, which I have also used.  And, finally,  I believe that it would be great if instructions to line the jacket were also added...

To sew the jacket I have followed the order of the book but optimizing resources: sew the maximum number of pieces in a row, then serge them, topstitch them, iron them, etc...

Els dobles repunts vistos són entretinguts, sort del premsarobes de repunt vist. 
Double topstitching is troublesome, it was great to use a topstitching presser foot. 

Vaig tenir problemes just amb el trau de dalt de tot.  Quina mala sort! Al final vaig acabar fent-lo a mà, des del revés, em sembla que aquest botó no el duré cordat gaire sovint.
I had trouble with the top buttonhole, just that one! I ended sewing it by hand from the wrong side, as that will be the side mostly seen...

La copa de la màniga és molt folgada. No hi havia manera d'embeure-la bé, i vaig fer un plec més o menys a la línia de la costura de l'espatlla... Si torno a cosir-me una Tello, modificaré la copa de la màniga i li'n treure folgança.

The sleeve cap has a lot of ease. I had trouble easing it in the armhole and finally it has a pleat near the shoulder seam. If I sew a Tello again, I will change the sleeve cap.

Les muscleres i la butxaca de cremallera porten el mateix folre. Perquè no pengi, la butxaca porta una tira de cadeneta de l'overlock cosida a la costura de la màniga. És un detall que he vist en roba comprada feta.

The shoulder pads and the zipper pocket have the same lining. The pocket is attached to the sleeve seam with an overlock chain. I have seen it like this in RTW.

He fet servir com sempre talla 40 a les espatlles, 42 a la cintura, i 44 als malucs. I m'agrada molt com se'm posa. Es una jaqueta prou ampla perquè puguis dur una màniga llarga prima a sota, però té forma.  A més, a diferència dels patrons Burda, les mànigues no són estretes i no em tiben.

As usual, I have cut a size 40 on the shoulders, 42 at the waist and 44 at the hips. And I love the fit of it. It is wide enough to be able to wear a long sleeve underneath, but it is not shapeless. Also, the sleeves are not tight like Burda's.

Trobo que no hi ha gaires jaquetes que combinin bé amb vestits, i aquesta n'és una.  Què us sembla?

I find this one of the few jackets that can be well worn with dresses. What do you think?

UNA PEÇA / ONE PIECE

Bona tarda!

Recordo haver llegit en algun blog:  Vaig fer-me aquesta peça de roba en menys temps del que hagués tardat a sortir a comprar-me-la.   I no m'ho creia ...

Aquest cop és veritat:  Vaig tardar menys a fer-me aquests xorts del que hagués tardat a anar-los a comprar. 

Ara ja puc dir que m'he fet uns xorts en una tarda.

No té gaire mèrit oi?  Només tenen una peça de patró.

I remember having read in a blog:  I sewed this garment in less time than it would have taken me to go and buy it. Well, I never believed it...

But this time it is true: It took me less to sew this shorts than it would have taken me to go and buy them.

Now I can say I have sewed a pair of shorts in one afternoon.

No big deal, since they only have one pattern piece.

De mica en mica em vaig fent una "patroteca" de patrons bàsics.  I ara ja tinc el patró bàsic de pantaló curt amb goma a la cintura i sense costura lateral. Segur que me'n faré més.
I am slowly creating a pattern library with basic patterns. So this is the basic pattern for a short in a woven with elastic waist and no side seam. I will sew it again for sure.

Es el patró núm. 50 de la revista Moda de Pasarela núm. 15. 
It is a Simplicity pattern, from Spanish magazine Moda de Pasarela number 15, pattern number 50.

A mi sempre em costa trobar xorts que no m'estrenyin les cuixes, ja m'enteneu. I aquests tenen un camal ample, és que de fet el patró és de pantaló de pijama! 
It is always difficult for me to find shorts with legs wider than mine, you know what I mean. These are wide, as the pattern is for a pj pant.

La roba és una mena de texà molt prim, sense elasticitat, molt agradable de portar quan fa calor. 
The fabric is a very thin denim type, without stretch and very comfortable in high temperatures.

En lloc de doblar la part de dalt i fer una beina, vaig cosir la goma directament a la roba, seguint aquest tutorial de la Melissa Fehr.  Així vaig poder graduar la goma de manera que queda més arrugada a la part del darrera i més plana a la del davant.

Instead of folding the top of the shorts and create a casing for the elastic, I sewed it directly to the garment, following this tutorial by Melissa Fehr. This way I could give more stretch to the elastic  in the back and leave it a bit flatter in the front.

No hi ha costura lateral!

JAQUETA O MANTA? JACKET OR BLANKET?

ja s'ha acabat la neu, però encara queda hivern. Suposo.

Avui us ensenyo una jaqueta, és d'un d'aquells patrons que tenia pendents des de feia temps. Recordo ben bé el dia  que vaig comprar el Burda a finals d'agost de 2015, en un poble de platja, era un dia preciós d'estiu, però per mi ja havia començat el compte enrere per tornar a la feina...

The snowstorm is over here in Catalonia, but winter is still around. I suppose so.

Today I am showing you a jacket, it is one of those patterns that have been on my to do list for some time. I remember very well the day I bought this Burda, it was late August 2015, in a beach town, it was a beautiful summer day, but my holidays were coming to an end...

El patró és el núm. 117 A del Burda de setembre de 2015.  Es menja molta roba perquè la part de davant de les mànigues és contínua amb els davants.Per cordar-lo té dos automàtics. Ni traus, ni botons, ni coll...

Encara que sembli una manta, no abriga pas gaire ,la roba és prima Per una cara és mescla de  llana i per dins sembla folre polar. Té una mica d'elasticitat.  La jaqueta no va folrada i per això les costures laterals van rematades amb biaix marró. 

The pattern is number 117 A from Burda magazine September  2015. It uses a lot of fabric because the front sleeves are cut together with the front. It closes with snaps. No buttonholes,  no buttons, no collar ...

Although it looks like a blanket, it is not very warm, the fabric is not thick. The outer side is a wool mix and in the inside   looks like polar fleece. It has a bit of elasticity. The jacket is not lined and for that reason the side seams are finished with brown bias tape.

Estic contenta de la meva jaqueta però reconec que no és per dur-la cada dia... és una d'aquelles peces força singulars.

I am happy with my jacket but I realize that it is not for wearing it every day ... it is one of those unique garments.

Amb aquesta jaqueta-manta dóno per liquidada la costura hivernal.  Aviat us ensenyaré el meu arsenal de teixits per la nova temporada, i la peça que he començat.

BORDER PRINT

Sempre va bé tenir uns pantalons amb goma. Jo en tinc dos de comprats i els he fet servir un munt. Per seure llargues hores en cotxes, trens, avions, hospitals.. 

Un d'aquests dos pantalons va passar a millor vida a finals d'estiu, i vaig pensar que aquesta roba amb sanefa de través (és així com es diu Border Print en català?) m'aniria perfecte per fer-me'n uns altres.

Pull-on pants with elastic waist are always good to have. Three years ago  I  bought two and I have used them a lot. To sit long hours in cars, trains, airplanes, chairs in hospitals ...

One of these two pants ended its life at the end of summer, and I thought that this border print would be perfect to turn into one.

El patró és el núm. 4 del Burda Easy 2 de 2016. Com que és Burda Easy, no cal calcar-lo.  Llàstima que les peces de patró no les imprimeixen prou separades com per afegir-hi els marges de costura.  (suposo que si fes una talla 36, sí que els hi podria afegir)

The pattern is number 4 Burda Easy 2/2016. Being Burda Easy, there is no need to trace it.  It is although a shame that the pattern pieces aren't printed far apart enough to be able to draft the seam allowances around them  (I guess if my size was a 36, there would be room for that...

El teixit és una mena de fibra, amb acabat mate, que no s'arruga gens. Però es desfilava una passada ,i  el marge de costura anava minvant.  Sort que havia marcat els patrons a la roba amb punts fluixos! (no es podien marcar de cap altra manera).  

The fabric is some manmade fiber, with a mate finish, it does not wrinkle at all.But it frayed terribly, and the seam allowances diminished.. Fortunately, I had transferred the pattern to the fabric with tailor's tacks (there was no other way)

Casar l'estampat als laterals dels camals va ser prou fàcil .

Matching the print at the side seams was really easy.

Em sembla que em cal tornar a planxar la costura!
I guess the seam must be ironed again!

La trinxa porta goma només a partir de les butxaques cap enrera, així no fa arrugues sobre la panxa.  

Aquí hi trobareu un tutorial de com fer una trinxa que només porti goma al darrera.

El fet de posar goma només a darrera fa que entre la cadera i la cintura, la costura lateral es desplaci cap enrera. No ho vaig corregir. Suposo que per això, les butxaques surten enfora.

The waistband has a flat front, the elastic starts at the pockets' line. That way, it doesn't add bulk on the belly.

Here you will find a tutorial on how to sew an elastic waistband with a flat front .

The fact that there is only elastic in the back causes the side seams to move backwards between the hips and the waist. I could have corrected the pattern, but I did not. I guess that is why the pockets stand out like this.

De la roba que em va quedar en vaig fer un mocador amb la vora enrotllada de l'overlock.

With the remnants I sewed a scarf using the rolled hem of the overlock.

Ja tinc pantalons per anar de viatge.

A vosaltres us agraden els pantalons amb goma? En porteu sovint?
